National Race Reports

National Round 7 & 8 - Manchester 2nd - 4th July 2010
Five of Tiverton's Bmx club members travelled to Manchester for Rounds 7 & 8 of the National series, where competition was tough and racing fast. Mini missile Molly O'loughlin riding in the 6 & under's did the club proud taking 2nds in both her rounds. In the Boys 8's Ryan O'loughlin again had 30 riders to compete against, making his way through to take two 4ths.Shannon Blake rode well but took a nasty fall in round 7, finishing her weekend with a 7th and a 6th, in the 11-12 girls. Championship ladies saw Bethan Hallett battling it out finishing with a fantastic 4th and an 8th. Paula Hallett took two 8ths. Rounds 9 & 10 are being held in Gosport on the 7-8th Aug.

Nationals Rounds 5 & 6 - Braintree 11th - 13th June 2010
Ryan O'loughlin was on form for round 6 of the National BMX series, with a fantastic win. He had to compete against 31 other 8yr old boys enduring quarters and semi's to gain his place. This win, leaves him only 6 points behind the currant leader in the rankings, Ryan's aim this year is to be National number 1, after finishing 2nd last year. Ryan finished 3rd in round 5. His sister Molly, rode consistently taking two 2nds.
Bethan Hallett had an experience of things to come, having to ride with the Championship girls. Bethan who rides 15-16 girls normally took a well earned 7th on day one with a 2nd in the B's on day two.
Ian Wheeler finished 7th in the B's in the 17-29yr Cruiser class. More great results for the club, the next National will be held in Manchester on the 3rd -4th July.

National Rounds 3 & 4 - Derby 14th - 16th May 2010
Bethan Hallett provided Tiverton's BMX club with two fantastic Wins over the weekend, in rounds 3 & 4 of the National Series. Derby was the location and the weather was Hot! Fitness was definitely needed for this long and testing track. Bethan who rides 15-16yr Girls rode like she'd just been shoot out of a cannon taking 1st position on both days followed by more great results from her fellow co riders. Molly O'loughlin in the 6 & Under Girls, had some good battles in her Moto's, finishing with two 2nds. Ryan O'loughlin took a 2nd on day one but hit the gate on day two slipping a pedal, leaving him at the back to come through to take 4th, in the 8yr Boys. Little TJ in the 9yr Boys finished 5th in the B final on day two. Shannon Blake had a 6th and a well earned 3rd in the 11-12yr Girls, Benjamin Blake riding in a competitive age group finished with a 7th in the A and a 4th in the B, in Male 17-24's. Cruiser rider Ian Wheeler had some steady rounds taking a 6th and an 8th in B finals in the 17-29yr group, with Big TJ in the 35-39yrs, racking up the points taking a 1st and 2nd place. Paula Hallett, who is our Cruiser 25 & Over Lady, took a respectable 8th and 7th.

National Rounds 1 & 2 - Cheddar 24th - 25th May
Tiverton BMX clubs top riders were at Cheddar over the weekend, for the first of the seasons National series. Sat & Sun saw two rounds of some awesome racing, with thrills & spills!. Australian rider Darryn Goodwin and Olympic rider Liam Phillips took part, which was great for the younger rider to inspire to, with around 550 riders riding on both days, BMX RACING is definitely on the up.
Our youngest National rider is little Molly O'loughlin, she raced two steady rounds to take 2nd both days, in the 6 & Under girls. Big bro Ryan, racing in the 8yr boys finished 3rd and ran out of track on day two to take a 2nd. Little TJ finished 7th in the B final on Sat in the 9yr boys. 11-12yr girls rider Shannon Blake was consistent both days taking a tumble on Sun but still finished with two 1st in the B's. Bethan Hallett in the 13-14yr girls rode some great moto's to take a 3rd and a 4th. Paula Hallett in the Cruiser ladies 25 & Over finished 7th and 6th. Male 17-24yrs was action packed with Benjamin Blake taking 3rd in the B's on both days. Ian wheeler went home with an 8th and a 7th in the B finals in the Cruiser 17-29yrs with another Cruiser rider Big TJ, riding 35-39yrs settling for an 8th after crashing out with a better day on day two, taking a 2nd. Great start for all our riders, they'l be looking forward to the next Nationial rounds which will be in Derby on the 15th-16th May. NEXT REGIONAL RACE will be the 9th May at Duchy in Cornwall.
