| South West Regional round
7 - September 5th 2004
Twenty seven riders from Tiverton BMX
travelled to Exeter, last Sunday, for the last race in the South West
Regional series.
In the 6 under novices we had Shannon Blake
and Elliot Norrish, racing for the first time, Shannon rode well to finish
5th overall with Elliot behind in 7th.
In the 7 - 9 girls we had Bethan Hallett,
Emma Coles, Rebecca Hill and Deyonne Gallagher. Bethan took her usual 1st
with Emma in 2nd, Rebecca 3rd and Deyonne 4th.
The lady cruisers were Mandy Cutler and
Paula Hallett, both rode a steady race, Mandy took 2nd throughout with
Paula in 3rd.
Brothers, Josh and Eddie Moore featured in
the 6 under experts along with Connor Cutler. Josh fought hard to gain 1st
place with Eddie in 3rd and Connor 8th.
In the 8's Oliver Fay proved himself to be
a champion by gaining 1st place in every moto and every final throughout
the whole season, today being no exception. His brother Elliot finished a
well deserved 5th in the 9's.
Daniel Hill and Troy Gallagher rode in the
10 year old age group, Daniel had to fight to keep his 1st place with Troy
behind in 5th.
Some real battles took place in the 11's as
results were vital for overall ranking. Connor Hallett took them all on to
finish 1st with Sam Hann in 6th and Rhyan Williams in 8th.
Similar battles in the 12's leaving Ben
Blake to finish 4th. Jason Fay took 1st in all his motos but had to be
content with 3rd in the final.
Jay Gallaway secured his 1st place in the
15's, whilst in the 16's we had the usual trio of Dean Bird, Sam Fowler
and Oliver Owen. Dean still recovering from injury left the way clear for
Sam to take 1st, Oliver 2nd and Dean rolled in, in 3rd.
The cruisers were fast and furious today as
stakes were riding high for overall ranking. Dereck Cutler, Stephen
Hassell and Steve Jenks were elbow to elbow and riding hard. Stephen took
1st with Dereck in 2nd, Steve Jenks had to settle for 2nd in the B final.
