Cornwall race reports

Regional Round 5 and 6        June 10th

Great weather and a good turnout of riders, for rounds 5 and 6 of the South West regional series at Cornwall last weekend, 14 riders from Tiverton BMX club made the journey.
Round 5 kicked off with 6 and under experts, where Josh Coppin took the lead but hot on his heels was, the ever improving, Ryan O’Loughlin, who took a well deserved 2nd place.
In the 9 year old age group, Eddie Moore took 1st with Elliot Norrish in 4th.
Four Tiverton riders featured in the 11/12 class, Oliver Fay, Callum Webber, Josh Moore and Elliot Fay. Oliver took 1st in the A final with Callum 4th while Josh took 8th in the B final, Elliot was unlucky to miss out and not progress to the semi.
Sam Hann and Liam Webber both raced well in the 13/14 class, Sam’s gates have improved giving him 2nd, 2nd, 1st through the motos and a well deserved 4th with Liam also taking 4th in the B final.
Jason Fay was on fire today taking 1st’s all the way leaving Ben Blake to settle for 6th in the 15/16 age group, while Ben’s sister Shannon raced very well in the 7-9 girls taking 2nd place in each moto and the final.
Pete Moore, racing in two classes again today, 25+ experts, where he took 2nd and 30-39 cruiser, where he finished in 8th after taking a fall.
After a short break it was straight on with round 6.
Josh Copping and Ryan O’Loughlin battled in 6 under experts with Josh 1st and Ryan, closing the gap in 2nd. In the 9’s Eddie Moore maintained 1st throughout the motos but had to settle for 3rd in the final.
In the 11/12 class Oliver Fay, Callum Webber, Josh Moore and Elliot Fay all rode well, having to qualify through to the semi final, Elliot was unlucky again, going out after a run off, while Callum Webber had the upper hand taking 1st, Oliver 2nd and Josh, having a much better round, taking 6th.
Sam Hann and Liam Webber found round 6 hard work, Liam took a bad fall in his first moto and was ridden into by another rider and Sam took a fall in his second moto and was boxed in, in the final, not being able to find a way through had to settle for 6th with Liam 3rd in the B final.
Again Jason Fay was ripping up the track, storming through the motos in the 15/16 age group, taking 1st all the way with Ben Blake in 4th. While Shannon Blake rode a very steady race in the 7-9 girls, taking 2nd throughout.
Pete Moore had to settle for 2nd in 25+ experts and was unlucky in the 30-39 cruisers, taking mostly 1st in the motos, but after crashing out in the final had to settle for 8th.

Regional Round 6 & 7   2nd July 2006

Round 6 & 7 of the South West Regional series took place at Cornwall last Sunday. Twenty-two riders from Tiverton BMX Club took part.
In round 6, Ryan Allington raced well in the 9 under novices, gaining 2nd place overall, Jack Knapton took the 10-12 novices by storm, taking 1st place throughout with Joe Northan-Nowell in 3rd. In the 12-14 novices, Tiverton had Callum Thomas and Robbi Knapton who finished 5th and 7th respectively.
Connor Cutler, Eddie Moore and Elliot Norrish raced in the 8year old age group. Connor took 3rd, Eddie 5th and Elliot 7th. Josh Moore raced hard in the 10 year olds gaining 2nd place throughout the motos and again in the A final.
The 11 year old age group proved to be quite exciting, it was nip and tuck all the way between Callum Webber and Oliver Fay, first one in front then the other, Callum took 1st in two of the three motos and gained a good lead from the gate in the final giving him 1st overall, Oliver having to settle for 2nd with Brother Elliot in 8th.
George Hughes raced well in the 12’s finishing in 5th, while Tiverton had three riders in the 13-year-old age group, Sam Hann, Liam Webber and Liam Pearce. Liam Pearce finished 4th, Sam 5th and Liam Webber 7th.
Peter Moore featured in 25+ cruisers along with Ian Wheeler, Peter took the group by storm taking 1st all the way, Ian battled it out to take 4th. Dereck Cutler, in 30-39 cruiser, raced well taking 2nd overall.
In the 15 year olds, Ben Blake had a good race with 2nd overall through the motos, then be blitzed the A final finishing a fantastic 1st place.
Only one Tiverton young lady today, Shannon Blake rode in 7 – 9 girls, Shannon rode well taking 4th overall. Peter Moore raced again in 25+ experts, he gained 1st overall in his second event of the day.
After a short break it was straight on to round 7, First off were the novices with Ryan Allington gaining 2nd in 9 unders, as did Jack Knapton in the 10-12 novices with Joe Northan-Nowell in 3rd. In the 14+ Novices, Callum Thomas took 4th Robbi Knapton 7th.
Eddie Moore took 2nd in the 8 year olds, closely followed by Connor Cutler in 4th and Elliot Norrish, smiling all the way in 7th. Josh Moore rode a steady 2nd all the way in the 10’s.
Again the 11 year old age group proved to be exciting with Oliver Fay and Callum Webber fighting hard for that No1 spot but in this round Oliver had the edge and took the all important 1st place with Callum 2nd, Elliot Fay raced very well despite taking a fall, he finished in 7th.
George Hughes also raced well in the 12’s finishing 6th. Similar results in the 13 year olds, Sam Hann 5th, Liam Pearce 6th and Liam Webber 7th.
Even with the high temperatures, Peter Moore again stormed the 25+ Cruisers gaining 1st all the way leaving Ian Wheeler with 4th. Dereck Cutler had a good race in 30 – 39 cruisers, he took 2nd, 1st and 1st through the motos with 4th in the final, giving him a great 2nd place overall, as was Ben Blake in the 15’s.
Shannon Blake, Tivertons only female rider today, raced well finishing in 5th.
The last race of the day, 25+ Experts, featured Peter Moore in his fourth and final event, he still managed to gain 1st overall despite taking part in a total of 16 races!


South West Regional Round 7 - 4th September 2005
The final race in the South West Regional series took place last Sunday at Cornwall, with many riders fighting for their regional positions. Tiverton took along 26 riders, 7 Novices and 19 Experts.
 
Michael Pearce and Haydon Green both rode well in the 6 under novices, Haydon finished 1st overall with Michael in 6th. Elliot Norrish, the only Tiverton rider amongst all the Cornish novices, took 5th place overall in the 7-8 year olds. In the 9-11's George Hughes rode a very steady race maintaining 2nd place throughout.
The battle of the Liams took place in the 12-13 novices, Liam Pearce managed 4th place with Liam Webber just behind in 5th, whilst in the 14-16 novices Luke Copley-Wilkins put in a great performance finishing 3rd overall.

Now onto the experts, in the 7 unders Tiverton had Eddie Moore and Connor Cutler battling it out not only for the win but also for their regional positions, Eddie had the upper hand in the motos taking two firsts and a second while Connor was a steady third throughout. In the final they were pipped to the post by a Cornwall rider leaving Eddie with 2nd, Connor 5th.
Josh Moore stole the show in the 8's finishing in 1st place as did Oliver Fay in the 9's.
Tivertons young ladies found the going tough today, Rebecca Hill and Shannon Blake raced in the 7-9 girls and had to settle for 2nd and 4th respectively while Bethan Hallett raced well almost catching the lead rider, she came away with 2nd in the 10-12 girls.
Two Tiverton riders in the 10 year old age group, Callum Webber and Elliot Fay, Callum, in his first year of racing, came away with 1st overall with Elliot behind in 7th.
The big fight was on in the 12's between Connor Hallett and Sam Hann, regional positions at stack, they both gave in their best shot, Connor had the edge and finished 1st overall leaving Sam with 2nd. Connor retains his regional No1 for a second year running.
In the 13-14 age group Ben Blake and Jason Fay faced each other, Ben was on form again and flew through the motos in 1st with Jason 2nd. In the final, Jason managed 2nd, Ben 3rd.
Jay Gallaway stormed through his motos 1st all the way, knowing the win was in the bag and being the last regional, he pulled tricks in the final, 360 over the doubles, it was quite a show.
Dean Bird had a tough race in the 17+, with all riders fighting to improve their regional positions, he finished in 3rd overall while the 25+ featured some fast and furious racing from Dan Pearce and Peter Moore, they finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
It was elbow to elbow all the way in the 30-39 cruisers, Dereck Cutler had to settle for 4th.

South West Regional Round 6 - 29th August 2004
Eighteen riders from Tiverton BMX Club travelled to Cornwall last Sunday for round 6 of the South West Regional series.
In the 6 under novices we had Callum Govier and Shannon Blake. Callum rode an excellent race to take 1st in every moto and the final with Shannon taking 2nd, 3rd, 3rd and 3rd in the final.
Brothers Josh and Eddie Moore featured in the 6 under experts along with Connor Cutler, Josh took 1st place with Connor in 5th and Eddie 8th.
In the 7 - 9 girls Bethan Hallett and Emma Coles fought it out to take 1st and 2nd respectively.
Oliver Fay stole the show in the 8's taking 1st all the way to the final, his brother Elliot had a good day in the 9's finishing 5th overall.
Connor Hallett and Sam Hann rode in the 11's both rode well. Connor took 3rd overall with Sam just behind in 4th.
Ben Blake raced well in the 12 year old age group he finished 3rd overall.
The 13's proved tough for Jason Fay he maintained 1st throughout his motos to clash with another rider in the final and had to settle for 6th.
Jay Gallaway flew through his races to take 1st all the way in the 15's.
The 16 year age group were minus an injured Dean Bird which left the way clear for Sam Fowler to take 1st and Oliver Owen 2nd.
Mandy Cutler our only lady rider today, maintained a steady 2nd throughout.
The cruisers proved the race to watch, Dereck Cutler and Steve Jenks had a battle on their hands to take 3rd and 4th respectively.
Overall a good days racing.
