Cheddar race reports

SW Champs  22nd September 2007

The South West Challenge Championships took place at Cheddar on 22nd September with Four Tiverton riders coming away with the coveted SW1 plate, Josh Coppin, Eddie Moore and brothers Jason and Oliver Fay.
In 6 under class along with Josh Coppin, SW1, rode Ryan O’loughlin who finished a well deserved 3rd.
Dereck Cutler and Pete Moore, returning from injury, took 5th and 8th respectively in 25+ male.
Along with Eddie Moore, SW1, in the 9 year old age group, Tiverton had Connor Cutler 4th, Ryan Allington 7th and Elliot Norrish who won the B final.
In the 11 year olds Tiverton had Oliver Fay who took the SW1 and Josh Moore 8th.
In the 12 year olds Callum Webber was just short on the line and had to settle for 2nd with Bethan Hallett 4th.
Sam Hann and Liam Webber raced in male 14’s, they finished 3rd and 4th respectively.
Tivertons final SW1 plate came in the 15’s with Jason Fay storming across the line in 1st.
Ian Wheeler took 2nd in cruiser 25-29 while in lady cruiser Paula Hallett took a well deserved 4th place.
Shannon Blake in 7 – 9 girls took 4th.
Great results, which also lead to Tiverton BMX Club topping the table with 215.5 points. Well done everyone.


Round 1 & 2        29th April 2007

A staggering 180 riders made the trip to Cheddar for round 1 & 2 of the South West regional series, 23 of these were from Tiverton BMX Club.

First expert race for two new riders, Josh Coppin and Ryan O’Loughlin, who both raced well in 6 under age group, the combined results of both events have left Josh in 1st place and Ryan 4th.
Eddie Moore, Ryan Allington, Connor Cutler and Elliot Norrish raced in the 9 year old age group, overall Eddie is currently 4th place, Ryan 7th, Connor 10th and Elliot 11th.
In 7-9 girls, Shannon Blake raced well gaining 3rd at both events and is currently 3rd overall.
Tiverton’s Callum Webber and Oliver Fay battled with each other for the all important 1st place, presently this lies with Callum and Oliver just one point behind in 2nd, also in the 11/12 age group Tiverton had Josh Moore in 7th, Jack Knapton 11th and Bethan Hallet, racing with the boys this season in preparation for the National and other tougher competitions.
In the 13/14 age group raced Sam Hann, Liam Webber and Robbi Knapton, Sam is currently 4th, Liam 13th and Robbi 15th.
Jason Fay has taken 1st place away from Ben Blake in 3rd in the 15/16 group.
While Peter Moore and team mate, Ian Wheeler raced in both cruiser and 25+, Pete took 1st in 25+ with Ian 5th. Both held on to 2nd place in their respective cruiser class.
With only two lady riders this season, Paula Hallett has also switched to riding with the men, making the competition much harder.
Two novice riders took part, Aaron Hill in the 7 – 9 novices, who took 2nd place in round 1 while Richard Harris gained a well deserved 1st place in 10-13 novices.
