Bristol Race Reports

Round 7 & 8         8th July 2007

Sunshine greeted the 21 riders from Tiverton BMX Club as they arrived at Bristol for Rounds 7 & 8 of the South West Regional Series.
Josh Coppin and Ryan O’Loughlin featured in the 6 under class with Josh taking 1st Ryan 2nd a result they repeated in Round 8.
Michael Pearce raced his first race this season but had to pull out before the finals.
Four riders rode in the 9’s, Eddie Moore, Connor Cutler, Ryan Allington and Elliot Norrish, all rode well with Eddie taking 3rd, Connor 4th, Ryan 6th and Elliot 8th.
The usual fight took place between Oliver Fay and Callum Webber in the 11/12 age group, Oliver took 1st in Round 7, Callum 1st in Round 8, Bethan Hallett, also racing 11/12 boys, was again the rider to watch, winning the B final in Round 7 with Josh Moore just behind in 2nd Bethan then went on to gain 5th in the A final in Round 8 Josh Moore took 6th. Elliot Fay, who bravely rides with a disability in this tough age group, went out in both rounds.
Sam Hann and Liam Webber raced in 13/14 age group, Sam taking 6th and 5th in the A final, Liam 5th and 3rd in the B final.
In 15/16 age group Tiverton had Ben Blake and Jason Fay, Ben was having a great day taking 2nd in round 7 and 1st in round 8 while Jason took 4th and 3rd.
Pete Moore and Ian Wheeler featured in their first event of the day, 25+ 20” along with Dereck Cutler, Pete took 2nd in both rounds with Ian 6th and 5th Dereck 8th and 7th, Pete took 2nd and 4th in 30-39 cruiser and Ian 3rd in both rounds in 25-29 cruiser class.
Shannon Blake rode a steady race in 7-9 girls taking 4th while Paula Hallett racing with the men in the cruiser class took 2nd in the B final.
Tiverton are still at the top of the regional table with 1701.5 points.


South West Challenge Championships    -    24th September 2006

Twenty-eight Tiverton BMX Club riders travelled to Bristol last Sunday for the South West Challenge Championships.
Two sisters made their debut in the novice classes, Chloe in under 8’s and Bonnie Knapton in 9 – 12, both raced well Chloe finished 7th, Bonnie 6th. Also in 8’s under novices, Tiverton had Samuel Harley and Michael Pearce, Samuel had a great race finishing in 3rd with Michael just behind in 4th.
Making it a family occasion, Robbi Knapton raced along side sister Bonnie in 9 – 12 novices, Robbi rode a great race finishing in 2nd overall.
The expert races started with 7 – 9 girls, Shannon Blake had a fantastic day with steady riding through the motos and a dream come true in the final when all riders fell except Shannon, leaving the way clear, with cheers and shouts from all her family and friends, Shannon crossed the line in 1st which gave her an overall 3rd place.
Four Tiverton riders in the 8 year olds, Eddie Moore, Connor Cutler, Ryan Allington and Elliot Norrish. Eddie took 4th, Connor 5th, Ryan 7th. Elliot was unlucky not to make it through to the final.
2nd and 3rd place followed in the 10 year olds with Josh Moore 2nd and Jack Knapton 3rd.
The first SW1 plate went to the ‘Yellow Peril’ himself, Peter Moore who had an excellent race, fellow rider Dan Pearce was unable to complete this class due to a fall.
The second SW1 plate went to Oliver Fay who has retained his title from last year, Callum Webber race well to finish in 3rd overall.
Four Tiverton riders featured in the 13 year olds, Sam Hann, Connor Hallett, Liam Pearce and Liam Webber. Sam took a steady 2nd throughout the motos and finished 2nd overall with Connor in 4th, Liam Pearce 6th and Liam Webber 7th.
In 13 – 15 girls, Elly Skinner raced along with Bethan Hallett, Elly race well taking 2nd overall with Bethan, who is racing up an age group, in 4th.
Ben Blake and Jason Fay faced each other in the 15’s, they fought hard through the motos and again in the final, Jason had the upper hand and took 2nd leaving Ben to settle for 3rd.
1st, 2nd and 3rd went to Tiverton riders in 20+ cruisers, 3rd place went to Ian Wheeler, 2nd to Dan Pearce and 1st place and his second SW1 plate went to Peter Moore.
Paula Hallett raced well in 25+ lady cruiser, she gained a well deserved 2nd place while in 30 – 39 cruisers, Dereck Cutler raced steady taking 2nd overall as did Chris Hibbert in 40+ cruiser.
A great days racing was had by all and three SW1 plates returned to Tiverton.


Regional Round 3 & 4    -      June 4th 2006

Round 3 & 4 of the South West Regional series took place at Bristol last Sunday, 24 Tiverton riders travelled up with some great results.
Round 3 
In the 9 under novices, Tiverton had three riders, Ryan Allington, Michael Pearce and Brian Filasky. Ryan raced well taking 2nd place with Michael 6th, Brian 7th.
Brothers Jack and Robbi Knapton rode in the 10-14 Novices, Jack raced a steady race finishing 2nd in all his motos and final with Robbi in 7th.
In the 8 year old age group Tiverton had Connor Cutler, Eddie Moore and Elliot Norrish, all did well Connor took 2nd overall with Eddie 4th and Elliot 7th, while in the 7-9 girls Shannon Blake rode well taking 4th place throughout.
Josh Moore raced well in the 10’s taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the motos but a fall in the final left him with 8th.
Bethan Hallett, racing up in the 13-15 girls, put in a good performance taking 4th throughout.
The ‘Yellow Peril’ Peter Moore featured in his first event of the day, the 25-29 cruisers; he stormed through the motos and the final in 1st place leaving Ian Wheeler in 5th.
Close racing between Oliver Fay and Callum Webber in the 11 year olds but Oliver held his own to take the 1st place slot with Callum in 3rd.
George Hughes tried hard in the 12’s finishing in 6th place, while in the 13’s Tiverton had four riders, Sam Hann, Connor Hallett, Liam Pearce and Liam Webber. Sam fought hard to take 1st in the A final with Connor 4th and Liam Pearce 7th while in the B final Liam Webber gave it his all to take 3rd. Ben Blake was having a bad day in the 15’s and took 6th overall.
Pete Moore raced in his second event the 25+ men’s, he flew and finished 1st again. Paula Hallett raced well taking 3rd in the Lady cruisers.

Round 4 
After a short break it was straight on with Round 4, first up were the novices with Ryan Allington and Michael Pearce in the 9 under; Ryan took 3rd with Michael 5th.
Jack and Robbi Knapton both raced in the 10-14 novices, Jack raced hard to take 3rd with Robbi 6th.
Next up were the 7-9 girls; Shannon Blake raced well taking 4th throughout, as did Bethan Hallett in the 13-15 girls.
In the 8 year olds Tiverton had Eddie Moore, Connor Cutler and Elliot Norrish, they finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. Josh Moore raced in the 10’s Josh raced well gaining 2nd in the motos and 3rd in the final.
Oliver Fay and Callum Webber raced in the 11’s, they took 1st and 2nd through the motos, Oliver had the upper hand and managed 1st in the final leaving Callum to settle for 3rd. George Hughes finished 6th in the 12 year olds.
Sam Hann, Connor Hallett, Liam Pearce and Liam Webber raced again in the 13’s, Sam had to settle for 2nd, Connor just behind in 3rd in the A final while the battle was on between the two Liam’s in the B final, it was neck and neck all the way, first one in front then the other, Liam Pearce managed to cross the line in 1st with Liam Webber close on his heels in 2nd.
Ben Blake improved to finish in 3rd in the 15’s. Paula Hallett took a steady ride in the Lady cruiser finishing in 3rd.
Pete Moore took 25+ men’s by storm yet again taking 1st all the way, could the ‘Yellow Peril’ do it again in the 25 – 29 cruiser? Yes he could! Pete 1st and Ian Wheeler 4th. Pete entered four events in one day making sixteen races all together and came out top in all. A great days racing was had by all.


Regional Round 4       -       June 19th 2005
Over 160 riders travelled to Bristol last Sunday for Round 4 of the South West Regional series. It was tough going with the heat and a revamped track for the 27 Tiverton riders that made the journey.
In the 5 - 7 novices, Elliot Norrish rode well after taking a tumble in the first moto, he went on to take 2nd place overall, Callum Thomas had a good day, he finished 3rd overall in the 9 - 11 novices.
Liam Pearce and Liam Webber featured in the 12 - 13 novices, Liam Pearce rode a steady race to take 2nd with Liam Webber just behind in 3rd. Stephen Hill, racing for the first time, finished a well deserved 4th place.
Tiverton had one rider in the 12 under cruiser, Troy Gallagher, he had a great day taking 1st all the way.
Three of Tivertons young ladies featured in the 7 - 9 girls, Rebecca Hill, Deyonne Gallagher and Shannon Blake, Rebecca took 2nd place, Deyonne 6th and Shannon in 8th. Bethan Hallett found the going tough and had to settle for 2nd place overall. Tivertons Lady cruisers rode well on this difficult track, Mandy Cutler took 1st place throughout with Paula Hallett in 3rd.
Eddie Moore and Connor Cutler rode excellent races in the 7 year old experts, they met each other in the final with Eddie having the upper hand finishing 2nd while Connor recovered well from slipping his pedal on the gate, to finish 6th.
Josh Moore rode in the 8's, finishing 2nd, whilst Oliver Fay stormed the 9's to finish 1st. Oliver's brother Elliot rode well in the 10's to take 7th, also in the 10 year old experts Tiverton had Callum Webber, Callum rode an outstanding race to receive 1st overall.
Daniel Hill and Troy Gallagher raced in the 11's finishing 1st and 7th respectively. Connor Hallett and Sam Hann featured in the 12 year old age group, Sam took a fall in the first moto and Connor stormed ahead taking 1st place leaving Sam to settle for 3rd.
Ben Blake had tough competition in the 14's, which is also the largest age group, Ben rode well through the motos taking 3rd, 1st and 1st but after being boxed in,in the semi he was left with the B final, which he won with style to finish 9th overall.
Jay Gallaway flew through his races taking 1st throughout in the 16 year old age group, whilst Tiverton had 3 riders in the 25+ Peter Moore, Dan Pearce and Dereck Cutler, in his first race back after injury, All rode well through the motos to finish in 1, 2 & 3, the final proved difficult with Dan taking 3rd, Dereck 5th and Pete behind in 8th. 

South West Regional Round 4 - 20th July 2004
Twenty four Tiverton BMX riders took part in round 4 of the South West Regional Series at Bristol last Sunday, with some great results.
Shannon Blake, our only novice at this event, rode well in the 6 under novices, she finished 5th overall.
In the 6 under experts, we had Josh and Eddie Moore. Josh crossed the line in 1st in all motos and 2nd in the final, with Eddie in 4th. Overall they finished 1st and 5th respectively.
In the 7 - 9 girls, we had Bethan Hallett, Emma Coles, Rebecca Hill and Deyonne Gallagher. Emma stormed out of the gate first in every race but Bethan soon caught up and overtook to take 1st in all motos and the final with Emma in 2nd, Rebecca 3rd and Deyonne 4th.
In the 8 years experts, we had the un-catchable Oliver Fay, 1st all the way through to the final. Oliver's brother Elliot featured in the 9's with a steady 5th place throughout.
Daniel Hill and Troy Gallagher raced in the 10 year experts, Daniel had the upper hand taking 1st leaving Troy to settle for 6th overall.
In the 11 year old age group we had Connor Hallett, Sam Hann and Rhyan Williams. Connor rode well taking 2nd place in all his motos while Sam had 2nd in his last two motos. The final proved exciting with Connor taking an early lead and keeping it to the finish line with Sam in 6th and Rhyan 9th.
Ben Blake had a good race in the 12's, taking 1st, 2nd and 4th in the motos and 3rd in the final.
Jason Fay had a tough race in the 13's he had to settle for 2nd place overall.
The 16 year olds race proved to be very competitive with only three riders and all from Tiverton. Dean Bird, Sam Fowler and Oliver Owen. Dean had the upper hand although Sam managed 1st in the second moto, with a bit of pushing and shoving, which he paid for in the final. Dean and Oliver made sure Sam stayed behind them to finish 3rd. Overall, Dean 1st, Sam 2nd and Oliver 3rd.
In the Lady cruisers we had Mandy Cutler and Paula Hallett, Mandy rode a steady race taking 2nd place overall with Paula in 4th.
Stephen Hassell and Dereck Cutler took part in the 30+ cruiser class, Stephen maintained 2nd in the motos and 1st in the final with Dereck in 4th all the way.
