Bideford race reports

Round 11 and 12           July 29th 2007

Last Sunday saw rounds 11 and 12 of the South West regional series at Bideford, North Devon, great weather and a good turn out of riders.
In 6 under age group, Josh Coppin kept his unbeaten record taking 1st in both rounds with Ryan O’Loughlin 2nd, Harry Roberts also raced but after taking a fall in practice was unable to finish both rounds.
Tiverton had three riders in the 9 year old age group, Eddie Moore, who stormed through to 1st place in both rounds with Connor Cutler, who improved in Round 12 taking 2nd over his 3rd place in round 11 and Ryan Allington who was consistent in both taking 4th.
Oliver Fay took the 11/12’s by storm finishing 1st with Callum Webber 4th and 5th, Josh Moore got 2nd in the B final in round 11 and 8th in the A final in the next round. Bethan Hallett rode a great race taking 1st in the B final at both rounds, Elliot Fay was again unlucky going out in both rounds.
Sam Hann and Liam Webber both had excellent races in 13/14 age group, Sam taking 2nd and 3rd with Liam 4th and 5th.
Jason Fay raced well making 1st in both rounds with Ben Blake 4th and 3rd.
Shannon Blake, in 7-9 girls got her first win of the season taking 1st in round 11 but had to settle for 2nd in round 12.
Pete Moore and Dereck were pedal to pedal in 25+ males with Pete having the edge taking 1st leaving Dereck with 2nd and Ian Wheeler 5th, in round 11, luck wasn’t on Petes side in round 12, he took a bad fall and also took a fall over the gate when the gate failed, leaving Dereck clear to take the win in round 12 with Ian 4th.
Ian also took 2nd in both rounds in 25-29 cruiser, while Pete Moore and Paula Hallett raced in 30-39 cruiser, Pete took 6th in round 11, Paula 2nd in the B final and 8th in the A final in round 12.


Regional Round 6              2nd July 2006

High temperatures and thunderstorms didn’t put off the twenty-seven riders from Tiverton BMX Club, who travelled to Bideford last Sunday for round 5 of the South West Regional series.
In the 9 under novices, Tiverton had Ryan Allington, Brian Filasky, Michael Pearce and Samuel Harley. Ryan kept his usual form taking 1st all the way with Brian in 5th overall, Michael 6th and Samuel 7th. In the 10-13 novices, Tiverton had brothers Jack and Robbi Knapton and Joe Northan-Nowell, Jack raced well all day finishing 2nd overall, Joe took 4th and Robbi 5th.
Peter Moore ‘The Yellow Peril’ featured in his first race of the day the 25-29 cruiser along with Ian Wheeler, Peter streaked ahead taking 1st despite taking a fall in the third moto, Ian finished 4th.
Tiverton’s Shannon Blake raced well in the 7-9 girls taking 3rd, 2nd and 4th through the motos and 4th in the final.
Three Tiverton riders in the 8 year old age group, Connor Cutler, Eddie Moore and Elliot Norrish, they finished 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively, while Josh Moore, in the 10 year olds finished 6th.
Elly Skinner and Bethan Hallett raced in the 13-15 girls, both rode steady races with Elly in 3rd, Bethan, who is racing up an age group finished 5th.
Callum Webber had the upper hand throughout the motos in the 11 year old age group against team mate Oliver Fay but Oliver had saved himself for the final and crossed the line in 1st place leaving Callum to settle for 2nd overall, Elliot Fay took a very well deserved 2nd place in the B final.
George Hughes put in a great performance in the 12’s taking 4th place throughout.
In the 13 year old age group, Tiverton had Sam Hann and Connor Hallett, Sam took 2nd overall, Connor 4th but the tension was there between Liam Webber and Liam Pearce, the two Liam’s battled it out with Liam Webber having a great day finishing in 7th with Liam Pearce 8th.
In 25+ Tiverton’s own Peter Moore raced in his second event, which he took by storm finishing 1st all the way.
Ben Blake had a tough race but despite taking a fall in the third moto he took 3rd overall.
Paula Hallett, Tiverton’s only Lady rider, rode well finishing in 2nd place overall, while Dereck Cutler, in the 30-39 cruiser, won his first regional this year after returning from injury.


Regional Round 3             22nd May 2005
Bideford BMX held Round Four of the South West Regional Series with excellent results for the 23 riders from Tiverton BMX Club. 
Elliot Norrish featured in the 9 under novices, Elliot rode well smiling for the cameras, he finished 1st overall in his age group.
Tiverton had three riders in 11-14 novices, Liam Pearce, Liam Webber and Callum Thomas. Liam Pearce finished 1st overall in his age group with Liam Webber and Callum both finishing 2nd overall in their age categories.
Connor Cutler and Eddie Moore both rode excellent races in the 7's, Connor flew through the final to take 1st with Eddie in 3rd. Josh Moore rode hard in the 8's but had to be content with 2nd.
In the 7 - 9 girls, Rebecca Hill was chased all the way and did well to hold on to 1st place with Shannon Blake in 6th.
In the 9 year old age group the uncatchable Oliver Fay crossed the line in 1st in every moto and the final, whilst in the 10's Tiverton had Callum Webber and Elliot Fay, Callum rode an excellent race to take 2nd overall with Elliot in 8th.
Daniel Hill was chased all the way in the 11's but he managed to hold on to 1st place.
Racing was neck and neck in the 12 year old age group, Sam Hann and Connor Hallett fought hard to gain 1st, racing is very tight between them and could easily go either way but Sam had the edge today and took 1st with Connor in 2nd.
Bethan Hallett had to settle for 2nd overall in the 10 - 12 girls.
A very exciting final again in the 14's with Jason Fay and Ben Blake, both are racing up an age group and showing them all how it should be done, Ben is on fire, he stormed the final to take 1st leaving Jason with 3rd.
The 17+ racing was tough and Dean Bird had to settle for 6th, while Peter Moore stormed the 25+ taking 1st throughout.
Tivertons ladies, Mandy Cutler and Paula Hallett faired well taking 1st and 2nd respectively.
 
South West Regional Round 1
The first South West Regional race took place at Bideford last Sunday, with over 120 riders from across the region, 25 of which were Tiverton BMX Club riders.

Luke Fowler, our only novice rider, had a great day, he came 4th in the first moto and 3rd in the remaining motos and final.

In the 6 under age group, we had Connor Cutler, Josh and Eddie Moore, Josh rode well taking 2nd in all the motos while Connor was close behind him in 3rd. In the final Connor took 2nd, Josh 3rd and Eddie 6th.
Four of the five girls, in the 7 - 9 age group, were Tiverton riders, Bethan Hallett, Emma Coles, Rebecca Hill and Deyonne Gallagher. Bethan had a fantastic day taking 1st all the way with Emma behind in 2nd, Rebecca is improving steadily, taking 3rd in the final and Deyonne, in her first regional race, took 5th.
In the 8 years age group, Oliver Fay maintained 1st all the way with Dolton Ashton, who improved with each moto, took 2nd in the final.
Elliot Fay rode a steady race, he came in 5th in the 9 years age group.
Daniel Hill and Troy Gallagher featured in the 10 years age group, Daniel took 1st place, Troy, riding with an injury, took 7th.
The 11 year old race proved to be exciting, Connor Hallett fought hard against Decoy rider Sam Novis, with plenty of elbow and pedal clashes, Connor rode home to a well deserved 1st place. Sam Hann took a spectacular fall in the first moto and although shaken managed 5th in the remaining motos leaving Rhyan Williams to settle for 6th.
Ben Blake was on form today in the 12 years age group, he managed 1st in the first moto and 2nd in all remaining races and the final.
In the 13 years group, Jason Fay rode well he took 1st in all motos and 2nd in the A final. Stiff competition in the 15 - 16 age group, Dean Bird and Jay Gallaway fought hard against each other resulting in them clashing and falling in the second moto leaving the way clear for Oliver Owen to take 1st. In the final Jay and Dean were neck and neck all the way to the finish line which Jay crossed 1st, Dean 2nd and Oliver in 4th.
Peter Moore rode steadily in the 17+ group, taking 4th in the motos and 8th in the A final. Dereck Cutler took 2nd throughout in the cruiser class.
In the lady cruisers we had Mandy Cutler and Paula Hallett, both showing the winter training had paid off by taking 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Sunday 28th March

Josh and Eddie Moore, our newest riders, took part in the 6 under age group, they finished 1st and 3rd respectively.
In the 9yrs age group, we had Elliot and Oliver Fay, Oliver took 1st through all the motos but had to settle for 2nd in the final, Elliot finished 5th.
In the girls race we had Bethan Hallett, Emma Coles and Rebecca Hill. Bethan managed 1st place in the third moto although she had to be content with 2nd in the final. Emma rode a steady race taking 3rd all the way to the final with Rebecca behind in 6th place.
Troy Gallagher rode well taking 2nd in the first two motos and 3rd in the remaining moto and final. Rhyan Williams had to settle for 6th.
In the 11yrs age group, Daniel Hill, Connor Hallett and Sam Hann, all rode well and fought hard against each other. Daniel took 2nd in the first moto but Connor battled hard to gain 2nd place in the remaining motos with Sam gaining in 4th. In the final Daniel took 2nd, Sam 3rd and Connor 4th.
Ben Blake and Sam Coles rode neck and neck in the 12yrs age group, Ben had the upper hand today, taking 1st in all the motos. The final proved exciting with both fighting for 1st place. Sam had to settle for 2nd whilst Ben took 1st.
Garry Knight, Dean Bird and Oliver Owen had a tough group, Garry flew around the track and finished 1st in the final with Dean in 4th and Oliver close behind in 5th.
Paula Hallett, the only lady rider, had to compete with the men, she gave it her best shot and crossed the line to much applause in 5th.
